↪Neglected diseases are Viral, parasitic and bacterial diseases (like trachoma, buruli ulcer ,HIV etc.) that mainly affect the world's poorest people 
◆Indian government is the fourth largest funder for research and development into neglected tropical diseases
•Way ahead↪unified programme on neglected diseases encompassing research and elimination measures is likely to have a greater impact towards disease elimination
●SC/ST act Amendment Bill(2018) inserted three new clauses;-
1↪No preliminary enquiry for FIR
2↪Arrest of accused person not require any approval
3↪Sec-438 of CrPC(deals anticipatory bail)will not apply to a case under this Act
◆Supreme Court has refused to stay amendments to SC/ST Act [several petitions were filed challenging the amendments]
●Nitrogen pollution;-
↪Is a form of water pollution, refers to contamination by excessive inputs of nutrients.( It is a primary cause of eutrophication of surface waters, in which excess nutrients, usually nitrogen or phosphorus, stimulate algal growth)
•A major international research programme is being carried out to tackle the challenge that nitrogen pollution poses for environment
•Nitrogen is an inert gas that’s necessary for life. But we’re changing it into forms that are harmful
●Jaipur Literature Festival;-
